Offered here is a uniquely aged Patek Philippe Calatrava, Ref. 96, produced circa 1956. The Reference 96 was on of Patek’s most successful models, having been produced by them for over 40 years, in a variety of case metals and dial layouts. This particular example was housed in 18kt yellow gold, and features a matching gold dial with applied numerals, and a register at 6 o’clock for the seconds hand.
This Patek Philippe Calatrava is in excellent vintage condition. The case does not show any signs of polishing, maintaining its original lug definition, and with crisp and visible hallmarks. The dial is unrestored, which is a rarity for a Patek this age in and of itself, and shows a unique cracking in the lacquer, giving it a “spider” look. The watch comes fitted on a Patek strap and gold Patek buckle, and is accompanied by an Extract from the Archives of Patek Philippe, confirming the production and delivery of the watch.
