Omega “Brownie Ed White” Speedmaster

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a great example of a “pre-moon” Omega Speedmaster, dubbed the “Ed White”, as this was the reference worn by the famous astronaut. This example dates to 1963 (serial in correct range for the reference), and features a fantastic tropical “brownie” dial, that radiates under sunlight.

This Omega Speedmaster is in excellent condition. The case has been expertly reconditioned by LA WatchWorks to define the original bevels more prominently, while maintaining the integrity and thickness of the original case finish. The dial is impeccable condition, with no flaws present whatsoever (the pictures show some dust on top of the crystal); the dial has clearly turned to a brown color, whether viewed indoors or outdoors (additional outdoor pictures can be provided upon request). The lume has aged to a lovely, golden patina color, and the hands have been professionally color-matched with old tritium to the dial (also done by LA WatchWorks).

The correct “DON” or Dot Over Ninety bezel is in great condition, aged to a lightly faded or “ghost” light blue/grey.

The watch comes fitted on a New Old Stock NSA JB Champion steel bracelet.
