Leonidas "CP-2" Italian Army Pilot Chronograph

Leonidas “CP-2” Italian Army Pilot Chronograph

SOLD

Description

This is a rare Leonidas “CP-2” chronograph, made and issued to Italian Army Helicopter Pilots. This watch was also issued to the Carabinieri (members of the Italian military corps for civic policing duties) Paratroopers “Tuscania” Battalion platoon. These watches were issued in the mid-1960s. The watch is powered by an interesting Valjoux 222, that features a hack device function and “fly-back” function, for more accurate timing.

The Leonidas CP-2 offered here today is an amazing and very well-preserved example. The case is unpolished and sharp, with clearly defined bevels. The dial is near perfect, with only slight degradation/paint loss to the chapter ring between the 8 and 9 o’clock markers. The lume is perfect and original, completely matching on both the dial and hands.
