SOLD
Description
We would assume that this watch needs no introduction, but just in case, offered here is the extraordinarily popular Cartier Crash, limited edition “Paris” model, made in 1991 in 400 pieces, to commemorate the original “London” Crash produced in the 1960-1970s. The Crash was the result of Cartier’s desire to create something unique and different, and according to Jean-Jacques Cartier’s granddaughter, Francesca Cartier Brickell, the inspiration for the design originated from his idea to pinch the ends of their more traditional oval shaped watches like the Bagnoire into something different. Whatever the origin may be (some believe it was derived after a watch was damaged in a car crash), the Cartier Crash is now one of the most iconic watches on the planet, worn by many celebrities and collectors alike.
This particular Cartier Crash remains in excellent condition, clearly carefully worn, and on a green lizard Cartier strap and retaining its original Crash gold buckle. Further, the watch remains with its original Cartier box and paperwork, not often found some 30 years later after the release of the Paris Crash for some reason.
