Description
Offered here is undoubtedly one of the rarest watches we have had the pleasure of offering. When people talk about vintage Breguet, their attention is usually turned to the aviator watches of the 1960s-70s, the legendary Type 20 pilot watches. However, Breguet also made some elegant watches during this era too. This watch, which does not have an official model name, is clearly the inspiration for Breguet’s famous contemporary “Classique” line. Produced in very small quantities, these watches very rarely appear for sale on the market. Fitted in solid 18kt gold cases, they were made seemingly in the 1950-1960s, in both 32 and 34mm case sizes, and fitted with gorgeous two-tone “guilloche” dials, decorated with a coin-edge case. Breguet has confirmed the present example as being produced in 1964, and a copy of the Extract from the Breguet Archives accompanies the watch.
This Breguet time-ony watch is in beautiful vintage condition. The case is unpolished, with clear and crisp hallmarks. The silvered two-tone dial shows minimal wear and aging, overall very well-preserved. This is truly a special watch, which we feel fortunate to be able to offer for sale!
