SOLD
Description
Offered here is a beautiful example of the rare and insanely popular Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, Reference 5402, circa 1974. Designed by Gerald Genta, the Royal Oak is the focal point and main attraction for the legendary watchmaker, and these first execution models have soared in popularity – finding a nice example has become harder and harder. This particular example is a first-series, or “A” series, meaning it was the very first batch of production, of only allegedly two thousand were produced. This particular Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is in excellent vintage condition. The case appears unpolished, still showing nice and razor sharp edges in the lugs. The dial is beautiful, with a warm blue color, aged slightly tropical throughout the center of the dial, giving it a unique look. The original tritium lume is still present in both dial aged to a nice yellow color; the hands have been relumed during service at some point in the past. Please note: the bracelet is a newer bracelet, likely from a D-series production watch
The watch is accompanied by an official archive Extract from Audemars Piguet.
