SOLD
Description
Up for grabs is a lovely example of the transitional Rolex Sea-Dweller, the Reference 16660, nicknamed the “triple 6”. This particular example was produced in 1984. The 16660 was the first Sea-Dweller to have a sapphire crystal and a larger helium valve that allowed it to descend to the deeper depth of 1220 meters/4000 feet underwater. Rolex also updated the movement, equipping these with the caliber 3035, which replaced the caliber 1575 of the old reference 1665 models.
This Rolex Sea-Dweller is in excellent vintage condition. The case has been very lightly polished, with the factory beveled edges still visible, and a thick and beefy case. The dial is beautiful, with no major flaws or cracking. The original tritium lume is still present in both dial and hands, aged to a creamy yellow color. The watch comes on its original Rolex 93160/592 Oyster bracelet, with 13 full links and minimal stretch.
