For sale is a Wittnauer Professional Chronograph, circa 1960s. Widely known for its use by NASA, the Wittnauer Professional Chronograph, Ref. 242T, was tested for use in space, a contract that we know eventually go to Omega. Powered by a Valjoux 72 and housed in a 38mm case, this watch is a darling in the vintage world, and rightfully so.
This Wittnauer 242T chronograph is in excellent vintage condition, maybe the best we’ve ever had for sale. The case is unpolished and untouched. The dial is in perfect condition, with no flaws visible, and no paint loss whatsoever (a major problem with these watches, particularly along the chapter ring). The original lume is still present and in-tact in both the hands and dial, aged to a yellow on the dial, and a green in the hands (a common occurrence with this reference).
