Vetta "Two-Tone Clamshell" Chronograph

SOLD

Vetta “Two-Tone Clamshell” Chronograph

SOLD

Description

Offered here is an incredibly rare and attractive Vetta chronograph, produced circa 1950s.  This particular example is housed in the first waterproof chronograph case, otherwise known as a “clamshell” case, held together by four screws in the back.  The dial is a possibly unique two-tone dial, with inner-area (where the inner tachymetre “snail” scale is located) being of guilloche texture, and stamped “Ermetico”, meaning hermetic or waterproof.  Further, at 38mm, this watch wears extremely well on the wrist.

This Vetta chronograph is in excellent vintage condition.  The case has been lightly polished in the past, but the lugs are still thick and even.  The dial is immaculate, showing no flaws or fading.

The bracelet is a generic “beads of rice”, and can be substituted for a leather strap upon request.
