Universal Geneve “MK2” Space Compax

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a second execution (MK2) example of the popular Space Compax model from Universal Geneve. These watches were allegedly one of the models considered by NASA for use in space flight, an award that would eventually go to Omega.

This MK2 Space Compax is in good vintage condition. The case has been polished in the past, but light enough that the original finish is still present. The lugs are thick and even, and the edges are still sharp and defined. The dial is in excellent condition, with only very minor drag marks visible within the registers. The original lume is still present in both hands and dial, and has aged to a lovely yellow patina. The crown is a generic replacement.

Further, the serial and reference numbers are still visible on the caseback, which were often polished/rubbed off on these watches.

The watch also comes fitted on an original, UG-signed steel bracelet.
