Description
Up for grabs is an extremely rare and early Universal Geneve Compur, circa 1940s, with black gilt dial, and housed in a large, 37mm steel case, given the reference 22445. These early UG chronographs are very hard to find when fit with a black galvanic dial. Further, this dial configuration features “big eye” oversized registers, compared to black gilt dials found in waterproof/screwback cases, which traditionally have smaller registers.
This Universal Geneve Compur is in excellent condition. The case does not appear polished, with normal wear. The dial is still extremely glossy, with a mirror-like finish, and minimal wear/aging from the application of the radium lume. As stated, the dial and hands still retain their original radium lume, aged to a nice yellow color.
