Up for grabs is a Tudor “Snowflake” Submariner, circa 1981, reference 9411/0. Tudor is better known as the “sister” brand to Rolex – originally formed as a more affordable alternative to that of a Rolex. In recent years, Tudor has exploded in popularity amongst collectors, with prices often eclipsing those of their Rolex counterparts. This example is a highly sought-after “Snowflake” Submariner, so-called for the snowflake-like appearance of the hour hand.
This Tudor Submariner is in amazing vintage condition, one of the nicest we have had. The case is unpolished and sharp, with beautiful original bevels in the lugs. The dial is in excellent condition, with no flaws, chips, etc. The original tritium lume is present in both hands and dial, aged to a lovely and vibrant yellow color; hands have been stabilized in the past, as is the case for 98% of these Snowflakes, due to the large width of the hands. Further, the original and correct blue bezel insert is virtually wear-free.
Finally, the watch comes on a Rolex Oyster 93150 bracelet with 580 endlinks, and has 11 full links with almost no stretch.
