Rolex “Concorde” GMT-Master

SOLD

Description

Offered here is a beautiful example of a Reference 1675, Rolex “GMT-Master”, in 18kt Yellow Gold. The serial of this GMT-Master is 20xxxxx, dating this watch to 1968.  This particular example features the highly-coveted brown, matte dial, with matching all-brown GMT insert.  However, what further sets this particular example is the fact that is one of the most coveted variant of the gold GMT-Masters – known as the “Concorde”.  As we now know, the Rolex GMT-Master was built/created for use by PanAm pilots in the 1950s.  As such, the present configuration – with rare straight hour and minute hands – has been nicknamed the “Concorde” due to its appearance in a Rolex advertisement, marketed to Concorde pilots in the 1960s.

The watch itself is in excellent condition.  The case appears unpolished, with original beveled edges clearly visible.  The dial is devoid of any chips, scratches, or flaws, and is in perfect condition.  The original tritium lume is still present on both dial and hands, aged to a gorgeous pale-yellow color. The original, all-brown bezel insert is also in beautiful condition, with a nice, natural fade setting in.
