Rolex “5513 Meters First” Submariner

Up for grabs is a lovely “meters first” Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513, circa 1967 (1.8m serial).  The “meters first” dials were the very first Rolex Submariner models to feature a “matte” dial, and are considered transitional from gilt to matte, with a limited production of around 3-4 years.

This Rolex Submariner is in great vintage condition.  The case has been previously polished, but the lugs remain thick and even, with original beveled edges still visible.  The dial is flawless, with no chips, scratches, tool marks, etc.  The original tritium lume is present on the dial and hands, aged to a nice yellow creamy color. The original fat font and “Long 5” insert is in good condition with virtually no wear.

The watch is fitted on a Rolex rivet C&I bracelet, dated to 1972, in excellent condition with no stretch and 11 full links.
