Patek Philippe “1526J” Perpetual Calendar

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is an exceptionally rare and important offering from none other than the masters themselves – Patek Philippe.  The reference 1526 is a perpetual calendar wristwatch produced from 1941 to 1952.  However, what makes this particular reference so important is the fact that it was the very first reference of a perpetual calendar that Patek Philippe made in serialized production.  Produced in very low quantities, it is believed that only 210 examples were produced over their 11 year run.  This particular example was produced in 1948 (and subsequently sold in 1953), as confirmed by an Extract from the Archives (please note: a copy of the Extract will be provided, and an original copy can be ordered upon request).

This Patek Philippe perpetual calendar watch is in very nice and honest vintage condition.  The case does not show signs of overpolishing, with a strong case and crisp hallmarks.  The dial is in nice condition, seemingly unrestored or washed/cleaned, with hard raised enamel and some light wear on the dial.  The watch comes with its original Patek-signed gold buckle.
