SOLD
Description
Up for grabs is a stunning example of a Rolex Submariner, Reference 5513, circa 1981 (7.34m serial). This example features a desirable 4th execution (MK4) “Maxi” dial, denoting the larger size of the lume plots, as compared to the Submariner’s predecessors. Further, this Rolex Submariner is in incredible vintage condition. The case is unpolished, with thick lugs. The dial is immaculate – not a flaw in sight. The original tritium lume is present on both dial and hands, aged to a pale yellow color. The bezel insert is period correct to this reference, and has a cool faded appearance.
The watch comes equipped with a flip-lock 93150 bracelet with 580 endlinks, and is in good condition with 11 full links and light stretch.
This watch comes out of my personal collection, and was bought by me from the original owner. As can be seen in the photos, the owner really wore and enjoyed this watch, as intended. He was a contractor, and wore it on job sites, pulling no punches. The case, albeit unpolished, is worn and used, with great character. Included in the sale is the original crystal, which is extremely crazed – I personally wore it with the original crystal on, and I recommend you do the same!
