Up for grabs is an excellent example of the popular Rolex “Red Sub” Submariner, Reference 1680. Bearing a serial of 2.8 million, this watch dates the watch to 1971. The present example is in great condition. The case shows thick and even lugs, professionally restored to recreate the original beveled edges. The dial is mint, with no flaws, marks or chips. The original tritium lume is still present in both hands and dial, aged to an off-white/pale yellow color. The “fat font” bezel insert has aged to a blue hue, and has the desirable “kissing 40” layout. The watch comes fitted on a 93150 bracelet, with 580 endlinks, and 10 full links. The bracelet has almost no stretch and is in excellent condition.
