SOLD
Description
Offered here is an incredible example of a Reference 1675, Rolex “GMT-Master”, with a Mark 1 “Long E” dial – one of the best we have offered for sale. The serial of this GMT-Master is 16xxxxx, dating this watch to 1966. The watch is a “full-set”, coming with its outer box, and “punched” warranty booklet, and “punched” chronometer certificate (I.e., “double-punched” papers). This particular example is the earliest iteration of the Reference 1675 matte dial, produced with early zinc sulfate transitional lume material and the “mini” GMT-hand, which is only seen in the 1.6-1.7m serial range.
The watch itself is in excellent condition. The case is unpolished and sharp, with beautiful original bevels in the lugs. The dial is devoid of any chips, scratches, or flaws, and is in perfect condition. The original tritium lume is still present on the dial and hands, aged to a lovely yellow color. The original “fuscia”-“Pepsi” bezel insert has aged to a lovely faded pink and light blue color, with minimal wear.
The watch comes fitted on a Rolex C&I Rivet bracelet, dated to 1971, and has 11 full links and minimal stretch.
This is a true “collector’s grade” set – an almost perfect example of this Reference, with unmistakeable provenance/authenticity included.
