Offered here is an incredible example of the so-called “transitional” Submariner, the Reference 16800, which was Rolex’s follow-up to the Reference 1680. The 16800 introduced the quick-set function to the Submariner and featured their new Caliber 3035 movement.
The present example dates to 1981 (7.1m), and is in excellent condition. The case has been polished, but the case remains thick and has sharp edges. The dial is pristine, with not a blemish in sight. The original tritium lume is present on both hands and dial, aged to a vibrant yellow color. The watch comes on a Rolex 93150/593 bracelet, in excellent condition with minimal stretch, and 12 full links.
