Description
There is no way to sugarcoat this one – this is as close to a brand new Daytona circa 1979-1980 that you will likely ever find. This Rolex Daytona, Ref. 6265 (circa 1970; 6.0m serial) is nicknamed the “Big Red” Daytona, due to the printing of “Daytona” in bright red letters in the center of the dial. Further, this particular example is outfitted with a panda-silver dial, and features screwdown pushers. This particular Rolex Daytona comes complete with its original Rolex box, its original “punched” Warranty Certificate, and accessories.
The condition of this Daytona is near-new. The case is unpolished, with virtually no wear (some light scuffs noticeably on the top left lug); the caseback still retains its original protective green sticker. The dial is in immaculate condition, with no flaws. The original tritium lume is still present on both dial and hands, with extremely beautiful and puffy plots, with no loss, and aged to a nice yellow color.
The watch is fit on a Rolex “Hecho en Mexico” Jubilee bracelet, with some stretch and fully lengthed. This example took us over a year to pursue and purchase from the family of the original owner in Mexico, and the country code matches the bracelet, evidencing its original delivery to Mexico. We say this with no hyperbole – you will be hard-pressed to find a finer example of a 4-digit Daytona available for sale!
