Offered here is an incredible example of a Rolex Submariner, featuring the date window at 3 o’clock, the Reference 1680. This particular Submariner was originally purchased and owned by the actor and singer Jimmy (James) Darren, best known for his roles on the shows T.J. Hooker, Star Trek, and Melrose Place, as well as many others. A letter from Mr. Darren accompanies the watch, confirming his purchase in the 1970s and ownership, as well as a photograph of him wearing his gold Rolex GMT-Master (which he also sold at the same time as this Submariner).
This Submariner has a serial of 61xxxxx, dating it to 1979. This Rolex Submariner is in excellent vintage condition. The case has never been polished, and the original bevels are still visible. The dial is perfect, devoid of any flaws whatsoever. The tritium lume is original and present in both dial and hands, aged to a vibrant yellow color. Further, the watch was never opened or serviced, until now!
The watch comes fitted on its original flip-lock Rolex oyster bracelet, with 93150/580 endpieces/endlinks, 10 links in total, and with almost no stretch. Additional links can be provided upon request.
