SOLD
Description
Up for grabs is an outstanding and early example of the popular “Root Beer” Rolex GMT-Master, in two-tone steel and yellow gold, circa 1969. This example features the so-called “nipple” and is fitted with the earlier “matte” dial variant of the two-tone Root Beer models (later serials were often fitted with a “Tiger’s Eye” variant). Additionally, this particular example comes complete as a full-set with its original Rolex box and Rolex “punched” Chronometer Certificate.
This Rolex GMT-Master is in excellent condition. The case is unpolished and sharp, with original factory beveled edges. The dial is gorgeous, with no wear/damage whatsoever. The original tritium lume is present on both dial and hands, aged to a beautiful dark yellow/orange color. Further, the original two-tone bezel insert has a beautiful and even age to it. Lastly, the watch comes fitted on its original and very rare two-tone folded-link Rolex 7836 bracelet, with 280 endlinks and dated to 1971, and has 10 full links with medium stretch.
This example is true collector’s grade and absolutely stunning!
