Offered here is an incredibly beautiful example of the so-called “transitional” Submariner, the Reference 16800, which was Rolex’s follow-up to the Reference 1680. The 16800 introduced the quick-set function to the Submariner and featured their new Caliber 3035 movement. The present example dates to 1984, and is in nice vintage condition. The case remains thick and even, lightly polished in the past. The dial is lovely and retains its factory gloss finish. The original tritium lume is present on dial and hands, aged to a nice yellow color. Finally, the watch comes complete with its original Rolex box and “punched” Guarantee Certificate, as pictured. The watch remains on its original Rolex Oyster 93150 bracelet with 593 endlinks, and has 12 full links with minor stretch.
