Rolex “5513 Gilt” Submariner

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a gorgeous example of a gilt-dial Rolex Submariner, Ref. 5513, circa 1964 (1.1m serial).  This dial variant is the last version of the gilt dial, before Rolex transitioned to the matte dial around 1967.  The watch itself is in fantastic condition.  The case has been polished in the past, but with beautifully beveled edges, appearing the same as it did when it left the factory.  The dial is beautiful and super glossy, with very light and minor imperfections, only visible under a loupe, and retains the factory “mirror”-like finish.  The original tritium lume is present on the dial and hands, matching and aged to a golden yellow.  The “Long 5” bezel insert is correct for the era, and has minimal wear.  The watch comes on its original Rolex Swiss Rivet 7206 bracelet, with 80 endlinks, dates to 1965, and is in great condition with light stretch, and has 11 full links.
