Rolex "18038 Black-Dial" Day-Date

SOLD

Rolex “18038 Black-Dial” Day-Date

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is an uncommon Rolex Day-Date, Ref. 18038, which was transitional from the Reference 1803, introducing the “single quick-set” function, which allows the owner to quickly just the date via the crown.  This example dates to 1984, and is fitted with a rare black gloss dial with gold print writing.

The condition of this Rolex Day-Date is excellent.  The case has been lightly polished in the past, retaining thick and even lugs, and appears sharp.  The black dial is perfect, still retaining all of its factory gloss, with no damage whatsoever.  Likewise, the original tritium lume is present on both dial and hands, with nice and full round plots, and aged to a nice yellow color.

The watch comes on its original hidden-clasp 18kt Rolex Swiss bracelet, with light stretch, and will fit an approximate 6.75-7″ wrist (three removable screws).
