Rolex “1680 Red” Submariner

Up for grabs is a very attractive example of the popular Rolex “Red Sub” Submariner, Reference 1680. Bearing a serial of 3.3 million, this watch dates the watch to 1972, and has a “feet first” “MK5” dial.

This Rolex “Red” Sub is in great vintage condition. The case has been lightly polished in the past, showing thick and even lugs and some bevels still visible.  The dial is beautiful, with no chips, scratches, marks, etc. The original tritium lume is still present on both dial and hands, with a nice yellow color.  The period correct fat-font “Kissing 40” bezel insert is likewise in amazing condition, aged to a blue hue.  The watch comes on a Rolex folded-link 9315 bracelet with 280 endlinks, in good condition with 12 full links and medium stretch.
