Description
Up for grabs is a stunning example of the popular “Fat Lady” Rolex GMT-Master II, Ref. 16760, circa 1985. These watches were upgraded by Rolex from the Cal. 3035, with a new, thicker movement, the Cal. 3085, giving the case a slightly thicker profile, hence the nickname the “Fat Lady”. This reference was also the first GMT-Master II reference for Rolex, and the first GMT reference to use a sapphire crystal, and also the first GMT to allow the wearer to set the hour hand independent of the GMT hand.
This GMT-Master II is in excellent condition. The case appears unpolished and sharp, with beautifully beveled edges; if it was ever polished, it was certainly done lightly. The dial is in great condition, with no major flaws. The original tritium lume is still present on both dial, aged to a nice yellow color; the hands have been professionally color-matched to the dial. The watch also has its original “coke” bezel, slightly faded in the red area.
The watch comes equipped on its original Rolex 78360 oyster bracelet, with 501 endlinks. The bracelet has 11 full links and no stretch.
