SOLD
Description
Up for grabs is one of the rarest and most striking “Zenith” Daytonas ever produced – the solid 18kt gold “Chairman”. Produced in 1991, and produced in a small batch of an estimated 12 pieces, the “Chairman” Daytona was made with a sunburst blue dial, allegedly made exclusively for friends, suppliers, senior executives and business partners of Rolex, and not for sale to the general public/in any catalog. These examples have popped up here-and-there over the years, usually at auction, as the presumable families of the original recipients begin to finally sell them. This particular example comes with RSC paperwork/card from a prior service in 2020.
The present example is in great vintage condition. While clearly worn over the years, the case of this Daytona remains unpolished and sharp, with original caseback sticker still in tact, although does show light scuffs to the case and bracelet throughout; the watch can be detailed at the request of the buyer. The blue sunburst dial remains perfect, with no marks, chips, or flaking; likewise, the original tritium lume remains present on both dial and hands, aged to a nice pale/cream color. The watch remains on its original gold Rolex Oyster 78668 bracelet, and has 12 full links with no stretch.
