SOLD
Description
Offered here is a rare Patek Phillipe, circa 1970s, during what is now known of as the “quartz crisis”. Only 6000 Beta 21 movements were made, split amongst other brands, such as Rolex and Piaget. This particular reference, 3603, was introduced in 1973, and is often referred to as the “Grand Ellipse” This design deviated from Patek’s usual dressed-down elegance – the watch wears like a modern, contemporary watch on the wrist, housed in a large, rectangular white gold case and lovely blue sunburst dial. According to the Patek Philippe Extract of the Archives, this example was both produced and sold in 1974.
This Patek Phillipe Beta 21 is in excellent condition. The white gold case and bracelet show little to no wear whatsoever, with a strong hallmark visible on the side of the case. The blue, sunburst dial is in great condition, with no major wear, damage, etc. Finally, the watch remains on its original black leather Patek Philippe strap and matching white gold Patek tang buckle.
