SOLD
Description
This is a rare Abercrombie & Fitch Carrera made in collaboration with Heuer. The present example is a Reference 2444, with the early-style dial, with green colors (as opposed to blue) in the registers. These watches were designed for exploring/travel/aquatic activities, as Abercrombie & Fitch was an outdoors/adventurers store. The Seafarer has a special register used for measuring the tide, called a “Lunar Dial” by Abercrombie & Fitch. For more reading on these special watches, visit On The Dash here. Further, the movement used in these watches is the renowned Valjoux 72, the same movement used in the Rolex Daytona, Heuer Autavia, amongst others.
The Seafarer offered here is in great vintage condition. The case is unpolished, with thick lugs and clearly defined original bevels. The dial only shows minimal wear, largely confined to the edge of the dial between 3 and 5 o’clock, which shows a minor stain. The original lume is still present on the dial, aged to a dark green (which is correct for this model); the hands have been relumed at some point in the past, with a slightly lighter green color.
