Heuer “2447S” Carrera

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a lovely example of the popular Heuer Carrera, reference 2447S (S designated the silver dial). These 1960s Carrera remain immensely collectible, and draw similar design and mechanical comparisons to the Rolex Daytona, using the same Valjoux 72 movement. This example is a 2nd execution (please note: the serial has mostly worn from wear), circa mid-to-late 1960s.

The condition on this Carrera is excellent. The case appears very lightly polished, with thick lugs and defined edges.  The dial is in great condition, with virtually no wear, and no marks, scratches, etc.  The original tritium lume is still present on the dial and hands, aged to a pale yellow color.  Finally, and importantly, this watch comes fitted on its original Heuer Gay Freres “beads of rice” bracelet, dated to 1966 – these bracelets are harder to find than the watches themselves!
