Description
Up for grabs is a rare Harvel chronograph, housed in the immensely popular Spillmann 38mm faceted lugs case. These cases were made by Spillmann in the 1940s, and used by a variety of brands (e.g., Universal Geneve, Doxa, Bovet, etc) as oversized waterproof chronograph cases. This particular chronograph is especially attractive, with a two-tone dial, aged to a creamy patina color, and featuring an inner-telemeter scale and outer tachymetre scale. Further, it is powered by the scarcely-used Valjoux 71 movement.
This Harvel chronograph is in great condition. The case appears unpolished and sharp. The dial is in great condition, showing light wear consistent with the age of the watch. The original radium lume is present on both dial and hands, and has aged to a warm orange patina. The radium still reads very strongly on a geiger meter.
