Elgin Canteen Watch

    Description

This is a rare Elgin “canteen” watch, made for the United States Navy. These watches were made in the 1940s by Elgin, Bulova, and Hamilton for military use. The dial is signed “Elgin” and “USN BUSHIPS”, or “United States Navy – Bureau of Ships”, and includes a rare moisture indicator “strip” along the dial edge.

The watch itself has been exceptionally well preserved. The case is razor sharp and unpolished. The dial has survived well over time, and only minor blemishing exists, not really visible to the naked eye. The original lume is fully intact and beautiful.
