Description
If you have never heard of the famed watchmaker, Daniel Roth, you have not been paying attention! Daniel Roth, as a brand, was formed in 1988 by the watchmaker, but before that, Mr. Roth made a name for himself working for many acclaimed brands, such as Audemars Piguet and Breguet. His watches are legendary in collector’s circles, and with the relaunch of his namesake brand by LVMH last year in 2023, he is destined to be considered one of the all-time greats in the annals of watchmaking history. While Roth struggled to push the brand forward on his own, selling a majority interest in the company to The Hour Glass in the mid-1990s, who would eventually sell the company outright to Bulgari in 2000, his watches are considered amongst the most collectible amongst diehard watch fans in present day.
This “jumbo”-sized time-only watch, given the reference 207, was clearly was designed by Roth himself, with its simple and elegant Sentier-case style and two-tone silver/dark grey guilloche dial, yet likely produced in the late 1990s/early 2000s while the company was overseen by The Hour Glass. The watch itself remains in excellent condition, with no visible wear to the dial or case throughout.
