Description
Offered here is an attractive example of the rare and insanely popular Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, Reference 5402, circa 1973. Designed by Gerald Genta, the Royal Oak is the focal point and main attraction for the legendary watchmaker, and these first execution models have soared in popularity – finding a nice example has become harder and harder. This particular example is an “A”-series (1st batch of production), and comes with its original Audemars Piguet Guarantee Certificate (originally sold in February of 1975).
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak offered here is in great vintage condition. The case is sharp, with correct finish and bevels, professionally detailed by an expert on the Royal Oak case. The dial is beautiful, with a warm blue color, and no major peeling throughout. The original tritium lume is still present in both dial and hands, aged to a nice yellow color. The bracelet is shows light stretch, and appears fully-linked, fitting a large wrist.
