Description
Up for grabs is an exceptional chronograph, produced by Heuer for the retailer Abercrombie & Fitch, circa 1940s. This example was fitted in a pre-Carrera, Ref. 2447-style case. As Abercrombie & Fitch was a retailer of outdoor goods, this watch was designed for use in extreme conditions, given that it was uncommonly large for the era, used a thick and sturdy stainless steel case, and with a screwback caseback and pump pushers (in order to be waterproof). Further, this watch was powered by the rarely-used Valjoux 71 movement, making this watch truly special.
This A&F chronograph is in great vintage condition. The case is unpolished and in great condition, with very thick lugs. The two-tone dial has changed colors to a light orange-pinkish color, and is truly a sight in person. The original radium lume is still present on both dial and hands, with only minor loss in the minute hand.
