Description
Up for grabs is a watch we really do not want to sell, it is that good! Montres Tudor SA has designed, manufactured and marketed Tudor watches since March of 1946. Rolex founder Hans Wildorf created Tudor to create a product for authorized Rolex dealers at a cheaper price than Rolex, while still offering the same quality product as a Rolex. Offered here is Tudor’s version of the Rolex Submariner, which debuted in the 1950s. This particular example dates to 60, bearing the reference 7928, and features an extremely rare “chapter ring” gilt dial, fitted in a “pointed crown guards”, or “PCG” case. However, what sets this watch apart from the rest is the absolutely stunning and caramel-colored tropical dial on this example.
This Tudor Submariner is in great amazing condition. The case appears unpolished, with the original beveled edges still clearly visible and prominent. The dial is gorgeous, with no damage or wear, aged to one of the most stunning tropical caramel brown colors we have seen on a 7928. Further, the original tritium lume is still present on both the dial and hands, aged to a lovely yellow color, and extremely attractive. The original “Long 5” bezel insert is in great condition. aged to a lovely slate grey color.
This watch is a true time capsule, and finding them like this is very, very difficult. Keep an eye on your local Goodwill stores though, as an elderly lady fished this watch out of a store earlier this year, before it made its way to us!
