SOLD
Description
Offered here is an incredible example of the so-called “transitional” Submariner, the Reference 16800, circa 1982, which was Rolex’s follow-up to the Reference 1680. The 16800 introduced the quick-set function to the Submariner and featured their new Caliber 3035 movement. This reference 16800 Submariner is the earlier iteration while Rolex used a “matte” dial, before transitioning shortly thereafter to “gloss” dials.
This Rolex Submariner is in excellent vintage condition. The case is unpolished and sharp, with original beveled edges, and the lugs remain thick and even. The dial is pristine, with not a blemish in sight. The original tritium lume is present on both dial and hands, aged to a lovely yellow color. The watch comes on a Rolex 93150/593 bracelet, in excellent condition with no stretch, and 11 full links.
