IWC “Gilt” Ingenieur

SOLD

Description

In the 1950s, IWC produced the Ingenieur (German for “engineer”) model for the civilian market, intended for use by engineers, scientists, etc., as a functional and anti-magnetic wristwatch for use in the field.  Considered one of the earliest “tool” watches and with its distinctive, timeless design, the early Ingenieur model has risen to cult-status amongst collectors.  This particular example stands out, as it was fitted with a black “gilt” or galvanic dial, as opposed to the more common white dial variant.

The condition on this IWC Ingenieur is excellent.  The case appears unpolished and sharp, with minimal wear.  The dial is in incredible condition, still glossy, with no defects.  Likewise, the original tritium lume is present on both dial and hands, aged to a golden yellow color.
