Description
The Waltham Watch Company, also known as the American Waltham Watch Co. and the American Watch Co., produced about 40 million watches, clocks, speedometers, compasses, time fuses, and other precision instruments between 1850 and 1957. The company’s historic manufacturing facilities in Waltham, Massachusetts have been preserved as the American Waltham Watch Company Historic District.
During the dive watch boom of the 1950s and 1960s, Waltham produced a very limited number of dive watches using the patented Blancpain bakelite multidirectional bezel. The example offered today is in great, all-original condition (right down to the original crystal!), with some lume flaking from the hands. The dial and bezel are in fantastic condition, and the case is stainless steel (not the usually-seen chrome-plated).
