Vacheron Constantin “46503 Mid-Size” 222

SOLD

Description

The Vacheron Constantin 222 was first released in 1977 to celebrate the 222nd anniversary of the brand. This watch was born in the same era as the Nautilus and the Royal Oak, famously designed by Gerald Genta, and during a time when Swiss watchmaking was redefining itself in the face of the Quartz Crisis. This model, designed by Jorg Hysek, shares similar characteristics as the famous Genta-designed watches. This particular Vacheron 222 is a reference 46503, and is their “mid-size” option, and clad yellow gold.  To date, only three of the reference 46503 are known to exist, produced with a factory diamond bracelet, bezel, and dial.

The watch itself is in great vintage condition, recently benefitting from a VC service, wherein they also detailed the case and bracelet.  The dial is exceptionally clean, with no visible wear or damage.  Additionally, the bracelet appears fully-linked, and will fit a very big wrist.  Included in the sale is the paperwork/receipt from the service conducted by VC in 2024, totaling almost $5,000.
