Description
Up for grabs is a very special watch, a 1990s Urban Jurgensen perpetual calendar, Reference 3, in platinum. Urban Jurgensen is a brand that has existed since the 1700s, and has changed ownership over centuries. In the late 1970s, the company was revitalized by businessman Peter Baumberger and renowned watchmaker Derek Pratt. Together, the produced a variety of very limited watches under the Urban Jurgensen name. Their 3rd model, the reference 3, was a continuation of their reference 2 perpetual calendar, introducing a power reserve complication to the former model; around 100 pieces were produced of the reference 3 in yellow gold and platinum. Recently, the brand has once again been brought back to life, now under the direction of legendary independent watchmaker, Kari Voutilainen, with new models slated to be released in 2025. Additionally, this particular reference 3 has benefitted from a recent service by Kari and his team, and the watch comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from them, including a new UJ strap and matching platinum tang buckle. The condition of this rare Urban Jurgensen is excellent, seemingly unpolished, with no wear or aging to the guilloche dial.
