Description
This watch has us at a loss for words. The serial of this Compur dates to the 1930s, and the age of this watch is also evidenced by the bridge of the movement being stamped “Universal Watch”, which was eventually substituted for “Universal Geneve”. The watch was housed in a steel 36mm case, which was large for the era. Also fitted with a “step” bezel and gilt dial with applied numerals, this is one rare and special bird.
The watch is in excellent vintage condition. The dial has some light blemishing, but has held up extremely well for its age. The case, if ever polished, was done very lightly, and the lugs are still razor sharp and even.
