SOLD
Description
Offered here is an extremely rare and uncommon Seikosha “Kamikaze” watch, used in service by Japanese pilots during WWII in the 1940s. Conceived as a pilot’s watch, the “Tensoku-Dokei” or “Celestial Watch” is also known as the “Kamikaze” as it was used by Kamikaze pilots in World War II. Very few of these watches were made, and most were lost over time, and more still destroyed during service/wreckage. The example offered for sale is in great condition, considering its past, with a strong case with minimal wear, and dial largely devoid of any major flaws. The caseback shows the original military engraving, and according to conjecture, the dial is etched with two letters, signifying the pilot the watch was assigned to. This watch is a truly important piece of historical and aviation/war history, and such pieces do not come to market very often.
