SOLD
Description
Up for grabs is a lovely example of the popular “Root Beer” Rolex GMT-Master, in two-tone steel and yellow gold, circa 1979. This was the first year of the transitional reference 16753, which upgraded the earlier reference 1675 with a new movement and quickset function, allowing the user to change the date with much greater ease. This example features the so-called “nipple” dial, due to the smaller hour markers, and is applied on a maroon-brown iridescent “sunburst” dial.
The Rolex GMT-Master offered here is in great vintage condition. The case has been previously polished, but the lugs remain thick and even with nice original beveled edges. The dial is gorgeous, with no chips, scratches or marks, and retains all of its factory gloss texture. The original tritium lume is present on both dial and hands, aged to a nice yellow color. The watch comes fitted on a Rolex Swiss Jubilee 62510H bracelet with 402T endlinks, and has stretch consistent with the aging of these bands, but is still in good, wearable condition.
