SOLD
Description
Up for grabs is an uncommon and very rare Rolex Oyster Perpetual in 14kt yellow gold, reference 6564, co-signed by the Texas retailer, LINZ, circa mid-1950s.. LINZ was formed in 1877 by five brothers, and in 1945, Rolex began to distribute their watches through them for the US market. This particular example shows the retailer’s signature at the top of the dial, and the OP and OCC print at the bottom, an almost never-seen configuration.
The watch itself is in excellent vintage condition. The case appears unpolished and has developed a rich and beautiful patina throughout. The dial is likewise beautiful, with no major damage, and an even patina throughout. Further, the watch retains its original radium lume on both the dial and hands, aged to a lovely orange color.
The watch comes with its original Rolex leather strap and 14kt gold buckle. Please Note: this watch comes to us straight out of an estate from a prominent family from Texas, and it was told to us that the watch had been sitting in a safety deposit box for a very long time. Clearly worn on its original strap its entire life, as such, the serial is very difficult to read due to bracelet rub, and while faint, can be read with some effort under a loupe (801xxx).
