Offered here is an incredibly beautiful example of the so-called “transitional” Submariner, the Reference 16800, which was Rolex’s follow-up to the Reference 1680. The 16800 introduced the quick-set function to the Submariner and featured their new Caliber 3035 movement.
The present example dates to 1985, and is in fantastic condition. The case is very sharp – seemingly unpolished, with original beveled edges, with normal aging from use; the caseback still retains its original caseback sticker. The dial is lovely, and has aged to an even matte appearance. The original tritium lume is present on dial and hands, aged to a nice yellow color.
Finally, the watch comes complete with its original Rolex box and “Guarantee Certificate” (originally sold in Hong Kong), as pictured.
