Rolex “Explorer-Date Full-Set” Precision

Up for grabs is an extremely uncommon reference – the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Precision “Explorer Date” – bearing the reference number 5700. This reference was made for and sold in the Canadian market. Further, these watches, along with the “Air-King-Date” models, were designed as a watch for pilots of the British Royal Airforce during the Battle of Britain. This example features dauphine markers and an applied Rolex logo. Further, this watch comes complete as a “full-set”, with its original Rolex box, Guarantee paper, and the original sales receipt and store warranty from 1963.
The condition of this rare Rolex Explorer-Date is excellent. The case does not show any obvious signs of polishing, showing just normal wear from age. The dial is in excellent condition, with no wear. The original radium lume is still present on the dial; the hands have been likely replaced in the past with tritium hands. The watch is fitted on a Rolex Oyster Swiss rivet 7205 bracelet with 57 endlinks, dated to 1966, and has 12 full links with virtually no stretch, overall very well-preserved.
