SOLD
Description
Offered here is a very interesting and very rare Rolex Precision Dustproof, circa 1962, bearing the reference 6223. It seems Rolex producded a small amount of 34mm manual-wind Precisions under the moniker “Dustproof” in the late 50s-early 60s, presumed to be made for the Canadian market. Very few of these are around, and they were made with incredible tuxedo-style dials (similar to the Tudor tuxedo-dial), with applied numerals against a ribbed outer dial, and an inner dial made with a black, gilt cross-hair finish. The condition of this Rolex Precision Dustproof is excellent, with a strong, lightly polished case, mint dial lacking any flaws, and original radium lume on both dial and hands, aged to a nice orange color. The watch is fitted on a later Rolex C&I Rivet bracelet, dating to 1971, and has 10 full links with light stretch.
