Rolex “5513 Meters First” Submariner

Up for grabs is an incredible and attractive “meters first” Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513, circa 1968 (1.8m serial).  The “meters first” dials were the very first Rolex Submariner models to feature a “matte” dial, and are considered transitional from gilt to matte, with a limited production of around 3-4 years.

This Rolex Submariner is in excellent vintage condition.  The case is unpolished and sharp, with original beveled edges, and showing honest wear from use over the years.  The dial is nearly flawless, with no scratches, tool marks, etc.  The original tritium lume is present on the dial and hands, aged to a nice yellow color. The watch is fitted on a Rolex Swiss Rivet 7206 bracelet with 80 endlinks, dated to 1969, and has 11 full links with no stretch.
